SKYcable and Rewind Networks have announced the launch of HITS (SKYcable Channel 137), Asia’s newest branded entertainment channel, on 1 August 2014, midnight. Celebrating the best international TV ever made, HITS brings a carefully curated selection of the finest dramas and comedies to the Philippines.
“SKYcable is a big believer in providing the best-in-class TV experience to its subscribers, which is why we are giving all our subscribers such an extended period of time to tune into HITS” says Ray Montinola, COO of SKYcable. “We are delighted to be Rewind Networks’ first partner in the Philippines and proud of adding HITS to our ever-growing channel line-up.”
“We believe we’ve really scored a hit introducing our channel to the Philippines by working with SKYcable as our premiere partner” said Mr Avi Himatsinghani, CEO, Rewind Networks. “HITS is fresh off the back of ratings success in Singapore and we’re confident that we can replicate the same winning formula for Filipino audiences. There is nothing like HITS currently in the market and we believe that our iconic characters and award-winning stories will quickly become the go-to destination for viewers.”
“We know that the Philippines has a strong affinity towards American television – especially mega-hits. We’ve carefully picked these blockbusters and programmed them in a manner that appeals to today’s audiences,” added Ms. Sandie Lee, VP & Channel Head, Rewind Networks. “People enjoy their comfort foods and HITS provides ‘comfort viewing’. Our simple and intuitive viewing schedule makes HITS very easy to watch. Audiences can catch their favourite shows at the same time every weekday or binge view back-to-back episodes during the weekend.”
As an added bonus, SKYcable viewers will also freely be able to access the HITS app on iOS or Android as well as web to catch-up on episodes of their favorite shows on-demand within Q4 2014.
HITS’ multi-award winning series will bring the greatest stories and famous characters to a new generation of TV viewers whilst breathing new life into iconic shows. The portfolio of HITS’ shows launched the careers of A-list stars including Bruce Willis in Moonlighting and Jerry Seinfeld from Seinfeld. Other shows reinvented their genres such as Bill Cosby in The Cosby Show.
